The materiality and texture of the house are both warm and rich, whilst layering of colour and pattern generates an excitement as they’re revealed to the viewer. When conceiving the interiors of the Yarrah House, we were drawn to the concepts of timelessness, tranquility and escape. Yarrah House embodies the client’s desire for a relaxed lifestyle and timeless home.
Interior Design, Furnishings, Art and Object
Rigorous interior planning to ensure maximum functionality paired with a soothing palette were central when conceiving the Yarrah House. Wanting to capture the relaxed Australian lifestyle, the furnishings reflect the essence of its bush environment. With its hints of Australian vernacular architecture, the interior is correspondingly robust and timeless.
We were brought into this project early which enabled us to respond to the site, and shape a contemporary interior space. It allowed the built form and the interior to work hand in hand to create a wonderfully liveable home.
With particular attention paid to the living, bathrooms and laundry spaces, we blended new furnishings with custom-designed pieces. Colour and texture is layered, building beauty, comfort and character into functional, useable spaces. The role of materiality is equal to both furniture and furnishing, enriching each space.
Yarrah House is a celebration of texture and materiality, manifested through a series of design manoeuvers that both delights and instills calm. Immaculate joinery, a rigorous series of built elements and a layering of texture, pattern and colour emboldens each space to inject strong personality.
