Progress on the design for the Mawson House is coming along quite nicely and the clients are putting forward ideas that I can take on board and run with. Creating a mood board is essential for me as a designer because it sets the mood that the clients are attracted to. This is particularly important when I’m working on the entire home! From the mood board I can draw out the style they are attracted to – be it colour, shape, pattern, texture and so on – and start to look for elements that fits within their style. If you are a DIY/home renovator create a mood board for yourself before you start looking at anything to buy for the renovation; because when it comes to selecting the finishes and fixtures this will make your life a whole lot easier! Here’s a wrap up of what happened with Trentini Design last week.
MAWSON HOUSE MOOD BOARD
The Mawson House is all about structure, lines and building tone throughout. This is an exciting project to work on collaborating closely with the clients to bring their ideas to life. And there are some brilliant ideas!
COLOUR IN THE KITCHEN
I absolutely love seeing kitchens in colour but its a fairly big move particularly when neutrals will absolutely stand the test of time. This was a big topic of discussion last week for the Trentini Design community – so many loved the idea of using colour in the kitchen! Some of you had used colour in the kitchen and sent through photos – and they were beautiful! Some of you said that you desperately want to use colour in the kitchen in the future. Bring on the coloured kitchens!
BIG BOLD BEDROOMS
Yes, to the wallpaper, to the upholstered bed, the coloured side table and floor rug. The coloured theme continued with many of you absolutely loving this bedroom design and it seems that everyone had a different element that they would love to use in their own spaces.
BOOM! HIGH FIVE TO MY SISTER!
This goes out as a high five, fist-pump, epic hug-fest to one of the best people I know. For the past 9 years my beautiful sister has been working towards one of her biggest career goals set to date. A lot of dedication was needed to achieve this so let me set the scene a little. This is someone who seriously knows how to multi-task – I’m talking sitting at the hairdresser researching for the next essay sort of multi-tasking. This is a journey I feel like I’ve been on myself and my nerves have been on edge for the last couple of weeks. Every phone call, I mean every phone call, started with me yelling into the phone “any news yet?” I can hear you laughing because for those of you who know me know that when I get excited I do tend to yell a little – could be an Italian thing? So, goodness knows how she has been feeling! When I received her text today “Guess who is the new…..” I was on such a high! Well done my beautiful sister on winning your own GOLD MEDAL.
